Are they at least releasing server software or something?
I have feeling that small-ish private servers with community ballances might work.
Edit:
I am not suprised thou. Furry lacked PvE, and GW showed that even basic and pvp-ballanced PvE can attract masses that keep game alive and well advertized (and provide stead supply of PvP converts and casual PvPers which is necesary to replace people that leave)
Plus i am sure that PvE would rock hard with Furry combat system and it also allowed tons of loot with impressive stats for those who like that kind of stuff.

Isn't this very old news? I remember Inde posting something like it, saying the development had stopped to begin with, because they were broke. I didn't know their servers were still running ;o

Hmm now that you mention it I do think I remember something on it too.
Though this is the official closing of the game apparently, so everyone is acting all dooms-day like on the forums.
"F this F that! *Breaks things*" lol.

WTF is up with games and companies epic failing? I mean, Mythos is closing, Fury is closing, and ehm....some F2P game called Dark and Light has a law suit to deal with(idk if they'll shut the game off)...O.O GW will prevail!....until GW 2!

Had a chance. Devs did everything they could to kill the game. GG.

Great idea and concept.
Shame the devs were even more incompetent than Izzy. TBH Cameron White makes Izzy look like a veritable god of balance.

Yet here's Guild Wars, which I don't even play anymore, somehow that is still alive.. hmm. I'm honestly surprised that people can still possibly find Guild Wars fun. I could spend countless hours trying to find out how but I'd be left empty handed.
But it does prove that A-Net at least knows what they're doing, unlike tons of other noob companies. I mean there is some reason why they are still alive after all these years, it can't be denied.

I really don't believe that GW would be where it is right now without the words "FREE TO PLAY!" bolded on every box.

Fury before launch was already accepted in third-party tournaments, which is more than GW ever managed in years after launch. If it wasn't for the devs mangling the game, it might have been a decent success.

I beta'd Fury, and I couldn't stand to play it for more than about 10 hours. Horrible GUI, graphics looked like Runescape if it was zoomed in to right behind the players back.

Amen, If it wasn't I'd have stopped logging on like 2 and a half years ago.

When KARMA still existed we were invited into Fury Beta but we could tell it was going to suck and never went through with the beta. I hoped they would fix it and we'd join some time after release but they just wasted their chance IMHO.
Also I only stayed with GW so long because it was F2P also.

The Fury devs are the equivalent of ArenaNet if they never EVER did anything good.
It is basically like SUPER EVIL ArenaNet.

I'm not surprised. It was one of the worst releases ever and it never really improved.

what does starcraft, counterstrike, and guild wars have in common? excellent gameplay.
the games with the best gameplay are those that are easy to learn, difficult to master, and will reward you immensely the better you become. if a game can achieve this, it will almost never fail.

It was good in Beta and immediate release.
It took a whole 2 months for that to change.
